The Central Oregon Health Council’s JEDI Committee will hold a regional Zoom conversation on Wednesday, August 5 to discuss anticipated federal changes to Medicaid/Oregon Health Plan and SNAP and the potential impacts on Central Oregon communities, healthcare systems, and service organizations.
Presenters will include Amy Martin, Office of Community Health and Engagement, Oregon Health Authority, and Shenika Cumberbatch, Community Partnership Coordinator, Oregon Department of Human Services. They will share the latest information available and answer participants’ questions.
Potential federal policy changes could significantly affect access to healthcare, food security, organizational capacity, and the well-being of individuals and families across our region. Healthcare providers, nonprofits, community-based organizations, and navigation services will play an important role in helping people understand eligibility requirements, reporting processes, and available resources to reduce the risk of losing benefits due to confusion or administrative barriers. This conversation will:
- Provide the latest information on anticipated Medicaid and SNAP changes.
- Explore potential impacts on communities, organizations, and healthcare systems.
- Identify communication, education, and assistance needs for Oregon Health Plan and SNAP recipients.
- Encourage coordination and collaboration across sectors.
