COHC History
How We Began
Central Oregon has a long history of working collaboratively to improve health and address complex challenges.
The Central Oregon Health Council (COHC) was established to build on that tradition — aligning partners, strengthening accountability, and improving health outcomes across the region.
Key Milestones
- 2007: Central Oregon selected for health system transformation efforts
- 2009: Regional partners begin coordinated work to address shared challenges
- 2011: State legislation establishes COHC as a regional governance entity
- 2012: COHC becomes the governing body for the Central Oregon Coordinated Care Organization (CCO)
A Regional Approach
COHC was designed to:
- Provide governance oversight of Medicaid services
- Align partners across sectors
- Support shared planning and data use
- Strengthen collaboration across the region
Today
COHC continues to serve as a regional convener and governance body, working with partners to improve health outcomes and advance shared priorities.
Together, we are building a healthier Central Oregon.
